If you want to serve your student community and gain relevant career experience in corporate management, representation, events, public relations, advocacy, policy, oversight, and contract management, consider pursuing the position of vice president of CUSA!
The Carleton University Student Association (CUSA) is seeking the next five vice presidents to join the presidents on the CUSA executive team. Executives work closely with more than 20 full-time staff and more than 100 student staff to manage day-to-day operations and company initiatives, reporting to the CUSA board and the CUSA board.
Serving as a CUSA executive provides student leaders with the opportunity to forward student concerns both internally to CUSA and to university, city leaders, or provincial and federal politicians. All students with an interest in non-profit management, education, current events, policy, or even politics will be able to make a difference on campus as CUSA executives while also gaining valuable skills for career development, such as feedback and consulting processes, policy writing, leading meetings, negotiating and advocate for results.
There are five vice presidents of CUSA, four of whom are elected by CUSA board members who enter and leave in a ranking vote at CUSA’s annual general meeting. The internal vice president makes decisions about the internal operations of the association, including the CUSA board, clubs and societies and governing documents. Vice president of community engagement externally advocates for student-relevant policies. The vice president of student affairs advocates for university administration and ensures student equity concerns are appropriately prioritized. The vice president of student life provides guidance on events and holds the university accountable for student development and the campus experience. The vice president of finance/secretary-treasurer is nominated to the CUSA board by a nominating committee, which interviews applicants and submits a selection of nominees before the CUSA board.
All CUSA positions are represented on the Co-Curricular Record (CCR).
