Finding work can often be a stressful experience for people entering adulthood, however, young people at Clinton now have the opportunity to participate in Reboot Plus – an education and employment program designed to help identify their greatest assets, develop new talent, and pursue their careers . really passionate about.
The Huron Chamber of Commerce has partnered with Fanshawe College to offer Reboot Plus, which was developed by Douglas College of New Westminster, British Columbia and Center for Future Skills Canada. Starting Tuesday, February 28th, folks in the Clinton community ages 17-24 will be able to get involved in the program.
Reboot Plus takes students through a 16-week course where they complete a career assessment, build skills, and create concrete plans for their education and career. The program also provides “informed field” exposure of professionals in selected fields.
“As a key partner, Chamber will connect students with professionals who will assist them through their own career journey and exploration with class presentations and informational interviews,” said Heather Boa, operations manager at Huron Chamber of Commerce. “This is a great opportunity for professionals to make an impact and share knowledge about their industry. Through this process, our young participants gain an understanding of the careers they are interested in and the world of work, build confidence speaking to professionals and start networking.”
Laurel Teall, Career Liaison for Reboot Plus, says students will be able to explore careers in social work, neuropsychology, cosmetology and many other fields.

Reboot Plus welcomes student participants from a variety of backgrounds, including those with non-traditional high school experiences. Teens can be referred by their school or through community referrals, according to Teall.
This program is part of a national research project and was launched in Ontario, Newfoundland and Labrador, Alberta, and British Colombia. Teall confirmed that Reboot Plus will launch in London soon.
“This project seeks to prove that personalized, heart-centred educational interventions will lead young people on challenges to success, graduating from high school or post-secondary education or employment,” said Darlene O’Neill, director of Fanshawe Student Employment and Entrepreneurship Services. . “Another goal is to change the perception of these youths as worthy and contributing members of the workforce in the eyes of employers.”
